Featuring The Squire Foundation’s Spring Artist in Residence Manjari Sharma, showcasing the latest work from her current project, The Shower Series, along with a sampling of past work, including an interactive video installation and book release.
Manjari Sharma (born in Mumbai, India Dec 1979) received a BSc. in Visual Communication from SNDT University in Mumbai, India and BFA in Photography from Columbus College of Art and Design. A recent transplant to Santa Barbara, CA from Brooklyn, NY Manjari makes work that is rooted in portraiture addressing the issues of identity, multiculturalism, and personal mythology. Manjari's work has been exhibited internationally at The MET, Kunst Museum, De Moritzburg, Halle, Germany, Asia Society, Carlos Museum (Emory University) to name a few. A book of Manjari's work titled Darshan is slated to release with Nazraeli press in fall 2019. Manjari’s work has been recognized in print and online by NPR, LA Times, CNN, New York Times, Vice Magazine and Huffington Post to name a few and her work can be found in the permanent collection of Metropolitan Museum of Art and Museum of Fine Arts, Houston in addition to various private collections. Manjari is represented by ClampArt in New York and Levy Gallery in New Mexico.
