Explore Ecology Partnership

Art Workshops Programming

Squire has a long-term support relationship with the non-profit Explore Ecology (EE) in downtown Santa Barbara, which includes their Art From Scrap (AFS) community art workshops at their CreatorLab gallery and workshop. A detailed description of EE programming can be found on the Explore Ecology website. Squire support for AFS includes artist stipend payments for art instructors, who are local working artists in the Santa Barbara community. Squire also provides reimbursements for art materials used to conduct classes. Our support will also include this year an allocation for the renovation of the CreatorLab workshop and gallery, providing new flooring and lighting.

Renovation and Public Art

As part of the renovation project, we are funding a community mural project on the street-facing walls of the Explore Ecology building in downtown Santa Barbara. The Squire Foundation will publish a call to artists, seeking submissions from local artists on themes close to the EE model, including reuse and recycling, and eco-sustainability.

Made possible by generous donations from the Helen M. Harrison Foundation and the Saganaga Corporation.
