Sagi Refael is an established art curator, writer, educator, and consultant to collectors and artists. Since 2004, he has contributed articles published in Israel and abroad, and has curated in leading venues such as the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and many galleries and OMIT non-profit institutions in Israel, Germany and the USA. Mr. Refael was a co-curator of a commercial art gallery in Tel Aviv, a lecturer at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Minshar Art College in Tel Aviv, and a guest lecturer OMIT in several art academies in Israel and in the USA, such as at The University of Southern California (USC) and Mt. San Jacinto College.
Sagi, along with Santa Barbara local Lynn Holley*, initiated and curated the exhibition 70.70.70. Israeli Artists in Santa Barbara. The exhibition will introduce a total of 70-emerging, mid-career and established working artists in three different venues over the course of three months. This exhibition is the result of a collaboration between The Jewish Federation of Greater Santa Barbara (Art@theJCC), SBCAST (Santa Barbara Center for Arts, Science & Technology) and GraySpace Gallery. This major group-exhibition of Israeli art in Santa Barbara celebrates the occasion of the 70th Anniversary/Independence Day of the State of Israel, which was formed on May 14, 1948. The exhibitions are graciously sponsored by The Squire Foundation.
*Lynn M Holley is an executive consultant to the Arts. She is the resident curator of Art@the JCC, and of SBCAST. She also manages GraySpace Gallery. She has an MA in Museum Studies from The University of Leicester, England.
70.70.70. is a three-galleries exhibition of the works of Contemporary Israeli Artists, celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the State of Israel. Each gallery will have a selection of Israeli artists, curated by Sagi Refael of Tel Aviv and Los Angeles, and Lynn M. Holley, of Santa Barbara. It is sponsored by the Squire Foundation.
