Si Jie Loo
Squire Artist in Residence September 10, 2015 - November 7, 2015
Si Jie Loo is a Malaysian born artist living and working in Santa Barbara. With her unique ability to capture music and dance visually, she engages the local art scene for inspiration.
Si Jie’s work is driven by movements. As an artist in the diaspora, she is constantly on the move between places, cultures, music genres and languages. As such, she has accumulated many pocket-size sketches done when she is “moving”.
An art residency with Morris Squire Foundation enables Si Jie to branch out, reflect, experiment, work through and ultimately transform the small-scale sketches that she has been working on into a larger, more coherent artistic expression shown in this exhibition.
